CrowdFunder: We did it - thank you!

CrowdFunder: We did it - thank you!

Our LandExplorer crowdfunder has closed and we are genuinely overwhelmed. We raised £9,180, which is £1,180 over our original £8,000 goal.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us. This campaign ran for just over a month and none of it would have happened without the people who backed it, shared it, forwarded it to one person, or just cheered us on. Thank you.

How it went

We launched in early June with a goal of £8,000. We planned to use this to fund the next phase of LandExplorer development before relaunching the tool later this year. Within weeks we hit that target, and set a stretch goal of £9,500. We came within £320 of our £9,500 stretch goal, and raised £9,180 is a result we're really proud of.

Most importantly, 7 organisations signed up to the solidarity tier.

At £600 per year, these organisations are directly funding free access for the grassroots groups who can't afford to pay. This is the community-supported model working exactly as we hoped and seven founding solidarity partners is a wonderful accomplishment that we’re so grateful for. Thank you so much to these groups and people.

Other highlights

Ten people signed up for the large property owners workshop, which will be a supporters-only session on how to trace large landowners and unregistered land across England and Wales. We can't wait to run it.

Three organisations commissioned bespoke land ownership research reports, tailored to their location and campaign. We'll be getting in touch to start those soon.

Over 25 people are getting signed copies of Nick Hayes' Book of Trespass and Guy Shrubsole's The Lie of the Land. A huge thank you to Nick and Guy for making that possible.

What happens next

The funds go directly into development. We'll be reaching out to everyone who contributed to vote on which features to prioritise first, and we’re so excited to hear from you!

The solidarity tier remains open for organisations that want ongoing access to every new LandExplorer feature when we relaunch. If that's you, get in touch.

And LandExplorer itself remains free, as it always has been, as it always will be.

Thank you for building this with us!

In solidarity,

The DCC team
